Here we have a beautiful, well-matched, NOS pair of rare "Super Tube" 6H30/6N30P-DR's from 1979. I purchased these in November of 2013 from Upscale Audio but cannot use them. These are getting extremely hard to find. People who have tried these tubes say they are better than the standard tubes in every way with a substantially lower noise floor, less microphonics, and a much richer and detailed sound stage.
A visual inspection confirms this pair is authentic: large halo getter; no scoring and same color plate flaps; no text on bottom of the mica (e.g. they are not fakes!).
These NOS tubes have less than 1/2 hour of playing time in addition to Upscale's standard burn-in process These tubes have no shorts, and are rated "A" for both low noise and microphonics. They are almost perfectly matched as can be confirmed by my testing on an Amplitrex AT1000 (pics). You can see section matching for Mu and Gm for tube #1 is within 5%. For tube #2, it's within 2%. Total Mu of the two tubes matches within 1%. That is important if you are using these in a preamp gain stage as there will be no channel imbalance.
Rare tubes of this vintage are now averaging $350-400 a pair and you cannot be sure what you are getting. I can send larger photos. I will carefully pack and ship in original boxes with the Amplitrex test results. PayPal adds 3.5%
