The Centurions were designed to offer the staging/imaging characteristics of the best mini-monitors with the tonal balance and bandwidth of three-way loudspeakers. They include a large (40mm) dome tweeter and 8” woofer by Cabasse enclosed within a very inert, rigid cabinet ported on the bottom. They sport DiAural crossovers developed by Kimber Kable and Polycrystal spikes. The color is Galaxy crème (butterscotch-like shade) like the classic Ford of the 60's and the tops are a Rosalia granite—very striking! Notable specs: Single-wired; Sensitivity 93dB; impedance 8 ohms; frequency response 35Hz to 20kHz; recommended power: 15 to 200 watts; 85lbs. each. Because they possess an extremely flat impedance response, they can be played with modern triode tube amps of low wattage or with a highly powerful SS amp. They sounded just fine with my Music Reference 125W tube amp and my 200W Moscode hybrid. They were originally praised by Stereophile’s Wes Phillips (onhifi.com) and you can find other positive reviews and comments in Audio Asylum's speaker asylum including this reviewer’s remarks: “The Centurions are fabulous. I have yet to find anything below $10K that sounds so lifelike and is so musically pleasing.” They are in excellent condition with the exception of a small ding/gouge at the base of one of the speakers which is scarcely visible. Graded very conservatively at 8. Because the speakers are heavy, I would prefer a local or regional pickup but will consider shipping. Original packing boxes included.
