The name your price feature was a huge dissapointment for us- it didn't get any offers- so plain and simple, the low price is $1390.00.The Herron VTSP-1 is a hybrid preamp that uses four 6922 tubes. This preamp is considered one of the best ever made and was recommended by Audiophile magazine and was a class A Stereophile recommended component.
This preamp is amazing, it is dead quiet- no his, no hum, no noise! It is also very musical; rendering a full rich sound that is very accurate- but not overly so. This unit has been upgraded with V-Caps and has the new copper/Teflon caps for a bypass; these caps are said to be the most accurate in the world. There are a few other things that I did to damp/shield it that you will notice in the photos. The circuit board has damping and the caps have fo.Q on the tops of them. The top of the unit has QuietKote spray on it as well as carbon fiber strands above the transformer so no stray interference goes to your other components. The underside of the unit is also damped and it has E-A-R feet, this is a very quiet unit.
Keith Herron recommends the use of Sovtek tubes but I love to tube rolling- I had terrific results with Tesla and Amperex A frames- complete sets of four of each are included- plus an extra Tesla (my favorite). Also included is an excellent power cable, it is made with Neotech UPOCC 16ga solid core wire. We had these cables for sale used for $229.00… the problem being that Neotech no longer makes the Teflon coated wire.
