This is a tremendous preamplifier.First, it was checked out by deHavilland engineer Kara Chaffee and she decided to leave it stock, besides some of the PS caps.
The Power supply is custom by her with a 6X5 tube. The power knob has been disabled as there is a new switch up front.
Ms. Chaffee made a sturdy front plate to mount the faceplate. Notice: I had the original caps that Ms. Chaffee intended for the preamp changed for the modern Cardas, etc...
The preamp was functioning 100% with them, and super quiet. The best thing is the the caps are Cardas Golden Ratio int he most important positions, as well as Audiocaps and k40's. The controls are quiet. But that can change depending on sensitivity of your speakers. I purchased a proper 4 gang pot to have as a spare. Its a lot better than the original. I used this preamp with my NRG A150 S, as well as Grundig NF-10 and NF-20 and its superb with them all. Only reason I am selling is that I am keeping a K & K MIR preamp, and need to recoup.
