We found the marriage of a hard then soft material really does the job. We found things worked much better when set on a ball, especially those things like TT's and CDP's spinning a disc, compared to other options like a point or flat surface. As stated above they will feature four levels of damping starting with a ball on top, the Herbies Lamplack ball(hard) from Herbies Audio Lab, then it rests on a cylinder* made from a synthetic material(soft) which sits in a one inch diameter hole in a an oak block (hard) finished with UV resistant coating. NEW OPTION The block sits on a Deflex pad (very soft) a little over 2" X 2" , or a Herbies Grungebuster 1.6MM thick sheet the size of the block. Your choice! Choose the Deflex for digital and systems that lean bright. Use the Herbies Grungebuster for analog and systems that lean warm. If your system is neutral choose based on which way you want the footer to act - add warmth - Deflex, leave HF level as it is but still attack virbration and grunge use the Herbies Gungebuster pad.
