Beautiful, pampered Sony SCD-1 player.Conservatively rated 8/10 only because of age. Used sparingly for almost 5 years, then because the Warranty was nearing end, I sent it to the Laredo, TX Sony Service Center so they could go through it, repair/replace any warn parts and also upgrade the Firmware ROM chip.
They replaced the laser assembly, the spindle motor assembly and the Firmware ROM chip.
There was no problem with the laser assembly or spindle motor, but they replaced them because I asked them to, as they were common problem areas.
I will include these used/original parts, as they are still usable. The player works flawlessly, has no dings, marks or scratches that I can see. Remote is included, and is in nice condition also. I have only used this player to play maybe 20 discs (I usually play records) since receiving it back from the Service Center in Spring 2008, as it was packed away and put into storage about a year later and has remained in storage since as has the rest of my system due to a slow, complete remodel project. I love this player so much that I wanted to make sure it would keep working for many, many years and would NOT be selling except that I have other pressing finances. I have purchased many new Sony replacement parts and OEM parts that are the same as what Sony used.
