George Andersons Tubelab design Triode-strapped Pentode amplifier. Utilises his Power Drive circuitry in an other-wise sand-free design. A 12AT7 driving your choice of EL-34, 6CA7s, 6550 (shown), 6L6, KT-66, etc. 5AR4 rectifier. The output varies with output tube from about 4 to about 8 watts per channel. If you visit the Tubelab pages of DIYAudio. com you will find a chart that details the output for each tube type at a given B+ value and plate resistor. This power supply is right at 450VoltsDC. The innards show the 60 microfarads of vintage oil cap power supply filters, open frame choke, Kiwame and PRP resistors and Obbligato Film caps by-passed with Russian teflons. Out back you have all copper, no brass RCAs and speaker terminals. Power transformer is an Allied-branded Hammond and outputs are Transcendars. ***NO TUBES ARE INCLUDED*** The spectacularly ugly case is a Hammond Steel, not aluminum. I really enjoy making my projects lovely (I think) but somehow, the Simple, thru 3 different paintjobs got away from me. It only sounds Lovely. The appearance is a 5, the function, 9. It really is way more than it's parts. The bass is weighty and taut, the mids full and rich, the highs, pure. I really don't wish to sell it but I need a hitch-mounted rack for my mountain bike more than I need this amp so...
That's why it's priced at $460. $150 for the hitch, $60 for a buddy to install and $250 for a Yakima rack. Pretty much what the parts cost. US Postal Money Orders only shipped to a US address; shipping should be about $30.00 most places and I vsey carefully pack. Find lots of good feedback at Audiogon under Kitch29.
