AUDIO RESEARCH REFERENCE 2 MKII FULLY BALANCED TUBE LINE STAGE PREAMPLIFIER - USED $3,900This is a one owner used Audio Research Reference 2 MKII all tube line stage preamp. It is around 15 years old (Our understanding is that it started off life as a Reference 2 then was upgraded to MKII status. It indeed does have 6 of the Russian 6H30Pi tubes in it as opposed the 6922/6DJ8 tubes in the original version - as well it MK2 sticker on the rear panel and the amended owners manual reflecting it as a MkII preamp and the factory packaging. The preamp sat unused for a couple years, so we have gone through and tested all the tubes (in our Hickok 6000A - all tubes tested out to be very good or better shape. I was told the unit was completely re-tubed several years ago with new tubes from Audio Research). I then tested inputs and outputs (there are a bunch!), controls etc, etc ... the preamp is in perfect working order. It comes with original factory box and manual AND remote (not pictured). Cosmetically, it is in excellent condition (see pictures) though gave it a conservative 8/10 rating mainly due to age. Retail new was $10,000, yours for only $3,900 plus ship.
