For sale is a Vintage Kenwood KD-500 direct drive turntable, with many upgrades. Known as The Rock back when it was in production, it was considered then, as it is now, a wonderfully sounding, strong turntable. The "stone" base is actually a very heavy poly-resin composite. The weight, approximately 35#, provides incredible stability, vibration control and allows for a strong, deep sonic performance. - The speed selections are 33 1/3 and 45 rpm, with pitch control. - New, upgraded motor for better stability and quieter operation - EMI/RFI coating on both sides of the platter to prevent interference between the cartridge and the motor - Leather platter mat for improved sound and better record care - Custom Olive-wood armboard - Rega RB-250 tonearm - Upgraded counterweight on the tonearm - Clearaudio tonearm wiring from the cartridge clips to the internal DIN connector - Clearaudio interconnect cable from the internal DIN connector to the RCA plugs - Ortofon 2M Blue Cartridge (used less than half a dozen times), mounted and installed
Only one flaw to note is a single crack in the hinged dust cover that does not effect the solidity and function of the cover. Otherwise this would be considered to be very near mint. Pickup in Northwestern VT or Northeastern NY would be very nice, but can and will ship at buyer's expense.
