EML 5U4G - tall version. < 50 hours (never used in a Modwright Transporter but only in the MW linestage which has a lower voltage). $200 new - sell for $125. SOLD.

Mullard 5AR4/GZ34 - fat black base from 1961 (F31B1L4 code). < 200 hours - sell for $120. SOLD.

I have heard all of the above tubes (I have others of the NOS ones listed) in a Modwright Platinum Truth Sony 9100ES and/or a Modwright LS36.5 linestage. Compared to the stock Sovtek 5AR4s, the Mullard brown base GZ32 and GZ37 are a couple of steps up in quality in all areas. The GZ32 has a tighter, smoother and more refined sound with more focused imaging than the GZ37, which has a richer sound and a larger soundstage.

The black base GZ32, GZ34 , "High Wycombe" GZ37 and 5U4G are a major step up from the brown base pieces in resolution, richness, imaging and soundstaging. The GZ32 excels in imaging and refinement, with vocals that "float" in front of one. The GZ34 has a full, concentrated sound, with more lower end punch. The "High Wycombe" GZ37 has a lot of harmonic richness with extremely three dimensional images and a very large soundstage. The 5U4G has an even larger soundstage than the "High Wycombe" but with a tighter, more focused sound and the most pronounced dynamics of any of these tubes.

Pics upon request. Prices shown that I paid are exclusive of shipping, while I will include USPS Priority Mail shipping to the the lower 48 in my prices.

I have an all positive rating of 348 on A'gon. under user name "rpf".
