This is a high output moving coil cartridge that can be used into a moving magnet phono stage. Sumiko sold a ton of these cartridges, and they were considered the best value in analog during their time period.Cartridge has good tonal balance, is very dynamic, and surface noise is pleasantly low. These originally sold for $200, and the BPS #2 now sells for $300. I have a BPS #2 on hand, and the differences are not large between them. The #2 has a slightly thinner cantilever, but they essentially sound the same. Cantilever is straight, and suspension rides high. Hours are not known, but a visual inspection with magnification shows minimal wear. Tracks my test records fine, and plays orchestral and piano music with no issues. Comes securely mounted in a generic box, but no mounting hardware or original box. Need an inexpensive cartridge, a back up, or one for a second table? hard to go wrong with this one.
