Asking $750 / or best offer.

I am the second owner of this VFET amplifier built in Thailand. I am selling as I have concluded my amplifier comparison and have decided the system synergy with one of the other Pass/ First Watt amps is slightly better. Condition 7/10 due to non commercial build.

It is utilizing the Pass DIY circuit to commemorate the Sony VFET. It uses the front end circuitry of the 2015 Sony VFET Part 2 Pass circuit, which uses local feedback at the input circuitry.

It uses one set of Sony 2SK82 and 2SJ28 VFETs per channel for about 15 watts into 8 ohms and 20 watts into 4 ohms. The VFETs are known for their musical triode tube-like sound.

Quoting the original buyer:

" The VFET is a complex circuit whose output stage consists of a pair of complementary power VFET followers biased into pure Class A mode. Thes devices are the current gain stage of the amplifier, very linearly following the musical signal produced by the voltage gain stage. The voltage amplification is created through a complementary jfet cascode with low noise transistors multiplying the input voltage. The design is extremely reliable. It achieves a relaxed sound with a very organic character and dynamics beyond the expectations of the power rating. 2SK170BL, 2SJ74BL, ZTX450,, ZTX550, 2SK2013, 2SJ313, 2SK82, 2SJ28, IRF240, and IRFP9240 are used."

I find the gain of the amplifier to be similar to most of the First Watt voltage output amps like the Aleph J and F5. The sound is a bit more tube like, and truly organic. The noise floor is not as quiet as with the other PASS F and J clone amplifiers I have built myself, but the only self noise from the amp is a quiet 120hz hum noted with my ear to my 98db sensitive speakers, and it is not at all noticeable with music playing.

The amplifier has nicely symmetric mirrored circuitry in a clone of the FirstWatt amplifier chassis. It runs warm, but easily passes the "5 second rule" even with an ambient room temperature of 76 degrees.

The amp draws about 1 amp of current, power consumption is maybe 180 watts.

Dimensions of the amp are: 17.25 x 15.25 x 6 inches. 29 pounds.

It will ship in a box with custom foam supports.
