NOTE: I can substitute a like new pair of JJ 300Bs for the WE 300Bs and reduce the price to $2250. One pair of very special Bottlehead Paramount 300B single-ended triode amplifiers. I purchased them from the son of the original builder who was an electrical engineer. Soon after, I purchased the V1.1 Soft Start Upgrade kit from Bottlehead and had Mike from Urban Radio and Hi-Fi install the kit. As should be expected, the build, wiring and soldering are exceptional. These amps come with all of the following upgraded parts and tubes (note that all tubes test GOOD/STRONG):
1. Upgraded Magnequest FULL NICKEL BH-5 output transformers and BH-7 plate chokes ($650 for the set of 4).
2. Matched Pair of 1998 reissue Western Electric 300Bs.
3. Pair of Tung-Sol Round Plate 6SN7s with high quality adapters.
4. Pair of 1943 Raytheon VT-231/6SN7s with adapters.
5. Pair of Western Electric 396As with Herbies Halo tube dampers.
6. Pair of Hi-Fi Tuning Supreme fuses.
7. Pair of Blumenstein natural finish Bamboo bases.
8. Pair of WBT speaker binding posts.
9. Two pairs of VCAP TFTF capacitors.
10. Pair of Mundorf Silver/Oil Parafeed capacitors.
11. Pair of Mills resistors.
12. Pair of Elna Cerafine capacitors.
13. Silver wiring from the output transformers to binding posts. Note that the output transformers are currently wired for 8 ohms speakers but can be re-wired for 16 ohms.
Each of these upgrades is an improvement but combined brings these amps to the top of S.E.T. amp class. Also, with the 3 sets of driver/input tubes, you can tailor the sound to your taste, system and room. Output power is approx. 8 – 9 watts, so of course you will need high sensitivity speakers. Please note that the amps do NOT come with power cords. Overall, I rate the condition an 8. Due to age, the top-plates are a 7 and everything else is a 9. The reason for this sale is that I have retired, so I’m simplifying/downsizing. I’m currently running FOUR 300B monoblocks, biamping with an electronic crossover. My plan is to replace those five components with a single stereo amplifier. The tubes alone are worth close to $2000 and the part upgrades cost over $1000, so you are getting a lot for the price. Also included are the original Bottlehead manuals, DVDs and receipts for many of the extra items. The amps will be expertly packed, including double boxing at no extra charge.
