Counterpoint is renowned for their hybrid amps; the SA-100 was the most popular with 100 watts per channel. This one was sent to Michael Elliott, the designer of the original Counterpoint amps for his Alta Vista upgrade (making it a NS-100), it was later sent in for a second round of upgrades- over $3500 in all. In addition to the standard upgrades this also has the circuit board damping, larger upgraded power wire, and IEC connector, Nichion Super Through output capacitors, solid copper RCA inputs, and speaker terminals installed by me before the second upgrade and OK’d by Michael. I also did some of my usual damping to the unit; the lid was painted with QuietKote and has carbon fibers over the area where the transformer is, there is damping on the inside of the chassis, and to the bottom of the unit, (that film you may notice in front of the transformer is from the “Anti-EMI” store). This is a very quiet amp.
The coolest thing I did was have a custom faceplate made out of solid ebony; it is laser cut with the exact logo and wording of the original silver one that is also included.
Michael strongly recommended the RCA red base tubes for this amp, I found them to be the best and a pair is included with this unit, you also get a pair of NOS Sylvania and TungSol tubes. This unit is in pristine condition with the original box, packing, manual, and factory check list! It will be double boxed.
