A beautiful pair of Dared VP-20 Mono-Blocks with the outboard power supply. The two amps are fed from the power supply via (2) umbilical cords, the power supply has a standard IEC cord socket.

Rated at 17w each, but behaving like considerably more, these are beautiful sounding amplifiers. Musical and smooth, with a nice punchy dynamic. I used them with speakers ranging from 97dB down to 86dB with no problems at all (Tekton, Dahlquist, Wharfedale, Monitor Audio, Totem). I've just purchased the new iteration of the Dared VP-80 integrated. The VP-20's actually came to me after the previous VP-80 that I had, and at the moment I'm using a custom Odyssey Khartago (basically a hot-rodded Stratos in a Khartago case, which I may or may not sell; it's pretty damned nice - make an offer?).

The primary difference, sonically, between the VP-80 and the VP-20's is in the midrange. The VP-20's sing, they simply sing. Female vocals, piano, etc. have a liquidity that is enough to make one stop, listen and then sit down and set for a spell. A long spell. The VP-80 has more grunt, but that is as it should be given the difference in output (they both use 6L6-GC's), XFMR's, etc. Musically, strictly musically, the VP-20's are actually nicer.

I actually do hate to part with them, but there's a limit to how much stuff a fellow can have, especially a down-sizing retired one. No matter, they're available to some very lucky audiophile and that's really enough to say.

Casework is in stellar condition, as is the power supply. No mechanical problems whatsoever. They don't weight too much, the power supply actually being the heaviest of the three pieces. A 30# package, total.

I think the price is fair, especially considering the condition these are in, but nice offers will be seriously considered. Lowball offers will be respectfully ignored.

The current tube compliment consists of (2) Svetlana 6L6-GC's, (1) Jolida 12AX7 and (1) Sino 12AU7 in each amp. These respond nicely to tube rolling, and I had Telefunken Black Diamonds in before, along with an NOS Western Electric 12AX7 and a new Tung Sol 12AU7, but I'm swapping those over to the VP-80.
