For sale are my treasured Fi Audio 2A3 mono blocks. I never thought I would part with these but my life is taking a particular turn and my stereo isn't making the trip with me.These amps were originally built in 2004. According to Don Garber, they were one of only two pair he had built with a custom power transformer, which included the filament windings and a hum pot. In the photos I'm attaching, you can see the hum pot knob next to the Fi branding on top. The amps are auto-biasing. Don's reputation and the review from Jeff Day at 6 moons that I've linked should be all you need to convince you that these are amps you want to own for a lifetime. Full disclosure: I bought the amps used in 2010. In 2012, one of the transformers blew. I sent it to Don for repairs. From his email: "The power transformer I'm currently using will fit the bolt holes with just a little bit of a stretch and I can fit a filament transformer on the inside of the front skirt. You'll see two screw heads 2-3/8" apart on the front, like current production amps. They'll be slightly off center because the filament transformer will have to fit between the hum pot and the rectifier tube socket." I'm rating the amp as in very good condition, because apart from the fact that one amp has the two bolts in the front, they are otherwise in excellent condition, with no scratches or faults. But I did want to account for the differences in the rating to be fair. For those who want details, per Don: "The repaired amp has a Hammond 274X power transformer (fitted with the end bells from the previous transformer) and a Triad F-1X filament transformer which was added because the failed power transformer had the filament winding incorporated within it. The other amp has a custom Electra-Print transformer." Neither Don nor I (or anyone else who has heard them) could hear a difference between the two amps. The amps ship in two boxes (I have the original boxes). Tubes will be shipped separately in their own box. I will include a matched pair of Sophia Electric Princess 2A3 mesh plates, Sylvania 5v4GA rectifiers and 62f5 inputs. I will also include a pair of Sovtek 2A3s that were included when I bought the amp (never used them) as well as a pair of JAN 573WGTAs that you can use if you want to try using the amp with 45s instead of 2A3s (read the review for more details). I never tried this. I will also include two LAT International power cords that came with the amps when I bought them. Each amp is about 11" x 10" x 7" WxDxH and weighs 17 pounds. There are four wooden dowels at each corner to serve as feet. The underside is open if you want to see the "guts," and an aluminum skirt between the dowels shields the inner electronics on each side. I did not receive a manual. Standard disclaimers: Paypal users please add 3%. Buyer responsible for shipping/insurance charges.
