I purchased this amp a couple years ago off of Canuck Audio Mart. The seller indicated the following:Remove balance pot to simplify and shorten signal path.
Replace critical capacitors and resistors with high grade audiphile components.
The caps in the signal path were changed to New Old Stock Russian K40Y9 Premium Paper in Oil Capacitors and the resistors in the signal path were changed to carbon composition models.
Also any caps or resistors that were out of spec or would degrade signal quality were changed. The big can multi-cap tests within specs so was kept in place.
Remove hum pot. Between the romoval of this pot and the balance pot, the amps general output level increased dramatically and there was suddenly some real bass now from an amp that before sounded fantastic in the mids and highs, but was only average in the bass department.
Change the 6EU7 tube sockets to 12AX7 - not a simple task as is rumored online - the whole damn socket and every single wire had to be rerouted! The reason I chose to do this was that there are only a few nice sounding 6EU7s out there and they are all expensive, whereas they serve the same function as a 12AX7 and there are hundreds of premium choices out there among vintage 12AX7s to tailor the sound to ones liking.
The sockets were replaced with new ceramic sockets for excellent pin contact.
A power switch was added and for this we used a very classy looking and feeling new old stock premium vintag ball switch manufactured by Leviton.
Speaker contacts that will accept banana plug sets were added. To maintain the vintage theme we used 2 sets of vintage vacuum tube Heathkit oscilloscope probe plugs.
The chassis is very clean and has no rust. The power cord and transformers are all original.
