Here's my Pilot 232 stereophonic amplifier up for sale. I put a lot of time and money into this great little amp. I did a lot of research and reading on this model before I started any work on it and ended up with a much better sounding amplifier than the stock version.

I will begin with the tubes: this amp comes with a Mullard 5AR4 made in 1958 with a B8F date code which tests strong. The Amperex EL84s read 'made in Holland' and have D-getters. They are Sittard made 1950's production. They all test 'middle-of-the-scale" good on a Hickok 752. I re-wired the 12AU7 socket to take a 6CG7 (which is more linear) and put in a Raytheon blackplate 6CG7. I can re-wire the socket back to accept a 12AU7 if the buyer wants that. The two 12AX7s are Telefunken smoothplates.

I removed most of the unnecessary wiring to add a little more space in this small chassis. I also removed the lamp cord and put in an IEC socket so that a heavier duty power cord can be used with the 232. I did not ground the amp, but did put in a power switch and wired it in off the hot leg of the IEC socket. I removed the old RCA inputs and installed new ones.

The single can cap on top of the chassis has been re-stuffed with new Panasonic and Nichicon 105c electrolytic capacitors. The metal can cap inside the chassis has also been re-stuffed with the same caps. All the black-cased non-electrolytic capacitors inside the chassis are quality Cardas Golden Ratio teflon composite caps.

I consulted with Jim McShane and installed his separate screen supply for the EL84s. Having the separate supply for the EL84's screens sure cleaned up the sound a lot. Noticeable increase in clarity, not brightness. I also replaced a couple ceramic caps with some silver micas with copper leads. The amp sounds very, very nice and is quiet at idle.

I pack very well, always double box all equipment, and pack with lots of padding. Buyer pays shipping cost. I usually ship FedEx Ground/Home fully insured. I accept checks, money orders, and PayPal. I've tried to leave anyone interested in the amp without questions, but if you have any, please message me.
