For sale is a very unusual single ended amplifier using the archaic 71a output tube. This is an extremely low watt tube amp, at just ¾ of 1 watt. Because of this, the amplifier demands the highest efficiency speakers, and I would say you want to have at least 100 db/wm to enjoy this amplifier. The amp features a regulated power supply (6BH3 rectifier, an OD3 regulator and a 6KD6 as a constant current draw). This is a feature rarely found, and it makes for a very clean power. The output transformers are from a single ended Zenith console, and there are several interstage transformers or chokes. The bottom is plexiglass with plexi feet, and the amplifier features undercarriage lighting effect. I'm selling this amplifier with an amazing pair of Arcturus blue glass globe power tubes, dating to the early 1930's. Also included is a pair of Sylvania st-shaped 71a tubes, which were new in their boxes when I received them and have five hundred or more hours on them by now. Driven by your choice of the 76 or 37 tube, I’m including a superb pair of mesh plate globe 37s with the amplifier. This amplifier also features a headphone section. Other than to test that it worked, I have not used this function and cannot advise on headphone compatibility with less than one watt of output power. But, this might be the only 71a headphone amp around. I’ve owned this amplifier for 4-5 years now, and it is one of my favorites within its limitations. I do not know any details about the circuit or the builder, but it has performed flawlessly for me during this time, with no noises, hum or other bad behavior. Its an ugly amplifier, but sounds very sweet on my Supravox panels. This is as far out in the extremes of single ended amplification as you are going to find on sale for some time, I'd guess.
