Musical Fidelity A5 CDP in very nice condition.Has just had Laser Assembly replaced by Audio Plus Services, the official Musical Fidelity Warranty service center. They installed the high-quality Naim VAM 1202 Assembly. Physically it is in great condition except for a couple of small scratches on the bottom. The original rubber footer grommets had come unglued and one went MIA so I replaced the rubber part with some felt footers. Full disclosure, one corner of a circuit board got a small chip in it when the laser was being replaced. It is purely superficial and does not affect any of the traces. I have run the player through all its paces with the remote and through all three of the outputs (analog, optical and coaxial) Compared it to the PS Audio Directstream DAC I am currently using the MF A5 sounds a bit fuller, I might say more powerful, non-grating with a very nice soundstage. I assume this it from the tubed output stage. And yes, this comparison was after adjusting the gains, as the output is higher on the CDP. Almost sorry I have sold most of my CD collection. Remote, Owner Guide, original box and packaging with new outer shipping box. $800 shipped in the lower 48. Thanks for looking.
