In very good used condition All connectors and switches work as they should. The Progeny is an "entry level" Theta DAC put on the market in 1994, the listing price is about $1,000. The Progeny DAC uses a Burr-Brown 18-bit/1-bit PCM67 hybrid DAC chip. The BB PCM67 converts the "upper" 10 MSB (e.g. the Most Significant Bits) with a true R2R ladder (multibit), and converts the rest 8 bits with 1-bit conversion. The Progeny use Mr. Moffat proprietary DSP program. This is a Mr. Mike Moffat's Theta classic. To my best knowledge, this is the original Progeny, which is basically a Theta DS Pro Prime II without balanced output. The Progeny and the Prime II share the same circuit board. This board uses an Analog Device AD 841JN opamp and a LM6321 buffer stage in each analog output circuit. It has all Nichicon "Muse" series electrolytic Audio Capacitors (those green caps). The front panel has two switches, one for the inputs (Optical Toslink or RCA Coaxial). The other switch change polarity of the output. The analog output voltage is 4 Volt compare to a normal 2-3 volt (less picky to interconnects). Note: It cannot play any high-res music, such as 24/96 or 24/192 format. It accepts 44.1k and 48k signals.
