For sale is a Zero DAC digital to audio converter for Coaxial (SPDIF) and Optical (TOSLINK) inputs and a single set of outputs.

This is a nice DAC that also has a quality headphone amp. I actually never used it as a headphone amp, but have read it has a full robust sound that can drive almost any headphone with ease. This DAC has the option of being used as a pre-amp and is how I used it to drive SET amps.

I did extensive upgrades to the unit. Similar to what Lukaz Fikus did with his unit here: http://www.lampizator.eu/LAMPIZATOR/REFERENCES/ZERODAC/ZERODAC.html however, I did not bypass the opamp out and ad a tube section as he did.

The upgrades done were as follows:

- replaced all filtering diodes with Schottky diodes

- added four Sanyo OSCON caps on the main chipset as Lukaz recommended.

- Removed the ceramic output filtering caps (really added air to the highs)

- Upgraded the cheap output RCA's with better quality units.

- Upgraded the cheap Coaxial RCA Jack with a better quality unit.

- Added WIMA film caps around the output OPAMP (not pictured since I didn't want to remove the bottom of the unit).

The DAC has a socket for the output OPAMP and the unit will come with a OPA2604 unit that was stock. I had rolled a few in there over time. The Burr Brown OPA2107 and 2111 and 2134 and the LME49720. The OPA2604 is a reserved and somewhat dark presentation that will be perfect for brighter systems and/or horn or single driver speakers and worked well with a pair of 300B mono blocs driving the speakers as shown. the LME49720 worked great on typical cone systems and was one of my favorites with speakers without metal tweeters.

Price includes shipping to the lower 48 via USPS flat rate medium box. The unit uses an IEC power cord and I can include one gratis if one is needed. Sadly, you'll need to provide your own RCA's and Optical or 75 ohm Coaxial cable.

Have a great day!
