Not only is this an outstanding Headphone Amp that immediately vaulted Burson into the Hall of Headphone Amp Fame, but it's also quite a transparent preamp.
A fine solid state Class-A Headphone Amplifier and Preamplifier--the thick, machined aluminum case transfers heat so well that it gets pleasantly warm only (do not drop this amp on your toe).
High Quality stepped volume control. 3 Gain Levels for matching to any headphone of amplifier sensitivity. Compact and so solid a build. Dead quiet of course.
Everything about the build and sound of this piece screams the highest quality. It is still a relevant piece--very--IMHO. In fact, Burson discontinued this due to the high cost of goods and 'lightened up' on the build of subsequent 'Soloist' models. I was going to keep it as a preamp; but bought a tube preamp, so would like it to go to appreciative buyer.
They sure got it right here and this fine piece of gear represents very high value to acheive transparently smooth, powerful high end sound.
Pics will be posted if there is any serious interest, but it is 8/10 because I am second owner. I see no flaws of note, so the way it is pictured on web is the way you will receive it.
