This is a Tom McNally 6B4G SET amp with lots of upgrades. The amp was built by Tom McNally, using the Shannon Parks Get*Set*Go circuit. This is a zero-feedback SET using 6B4G output tubes, one 6SL7 driver and a 6AX5 rectifier. It yields 3 wpc. The 6B4G is considered the octal base 6.3V version of the 2A3 tube. Because of the rather clever circuit design, this amp can be converted to use 300B output tubes with a couple of simple changes.

This particular amp has the following upgrades:

Volume control (Alps Blue Velvet) Two sets of switchable inputs James 6113HS output transformers Jupiter Condenser HT BeesWax Paper capacitors

The following array of tubes comes with the amp:

6AX5GT – Tungsol, Raytheon, Zenith 6SL7GT – Sylvania tall chrome top, Sylvania bottom “D” getter USN, GE silver plate, side halo getter 6B4G – pair of Sovtek mono plates

This is a great sounding amp, with a clean, detailed sound, great imaging and excellent bass.

But wait, there’s more!!! How about getting an additional 300B amp for almost no extra costs? (Additional shipping, handling and undisclosed fees may apply). Sorry, I guess I watch too much late night TV. Conversion to use 300B output tubes requires only a swap out of two resistors and change out the octal tube sockets for 4 pin sockets. I have all the parts to do this, if the buyer might be interested. Info for the conversion are on the DIYtube website.

But wait again, there is even more!!! I corresponded with Tom McNally regarding the possibility of setting up the amp to use either output type with the flip of a switch and the use of 4pin to octal pin adapters on the 300B tubes. Totally doable apparently. I have all the parts for this also, including 4 pin socket adapters, extra resistors and switches. You supply the solder, wires and you have a great DIY project. I will sell all the conversion/reworking parts for $50.

I also have additional tubes for this amp that I would be glad to discuss with the successful buyer.
