My system is fully balanced, from my dac to my monoblocks, so I subsequently purchased a full complement of Virtuoso XLR cables + Virtuoso speaker cables. Compared to the "Audiogon-chat-room approved" XLR cables I had been using, the Virtuosos yielded a major sonic improvement. The noise floor became lower, there was less digital glare, and the sound from the little 5.3" woofers of the KEF LS/50s matured into a full-bodied wall of music. That was a year ago and I've been modifying my system continuously. Each mod improves the system so I still have not reached the upper limits of these cables. I started out with a relatively inexpensive Emotiva preamp + matching pure Class A monoblocks. I always assumed I'd need to upgrade to more expensive gear but I'm so pleased with what I have that I'm rethinking that.
