Hello. This is a wonderful sounding phono preamp. I upgraded the coupling capacitors with AuriCaps which are much more resolving than the stock caps. I also replaced the poor quality signal path wiring with solid core copper. I removed the second set of "Low" outputs which I never saw the point of. I recently cleaned the RCA connections with pro-gold.This is the "Plus" model with the upgraded power supply that is much more regulated then the standard model. To buy this unit new from YS Audio it costs $550 plus $100 shipping. With that in mind plus the expensive capacitor upgrade I performed, this is a very good value.
Currently I have a newer (less than 100 hours of use) set of low noise Electro Harmonics output tubes and another gold pin low noise Electro Harmonics input tube. These tubes were around $60 all together which I am including at the asking price.
The sound is very tube like as you'd expect. Not overly soft but the sound defensively blooms when it should. The midrange and highs are very open and detailed with just the right warmth. No op-amps in the signal path. This preamp will work with MM and Hi Output MC cartridges. Below is what I found on their website on the selector switch: The Concerto Plus has a select control for select 4 kind phono EQ network : RIAA , London ffrr , Columbia , SP.
The RIAA EQ for prevalence LP ,
The London ffrr EQ for London ffrr LP ,
The Columbia EQ for Columbia and old NAB LP ,
The SP EQ for EU 2 Single-Play.
There are a few nicks and spots on the face plate over by the knob. Very hard to see unless you're very close. The price is firm and includes shipping and PayPal fees. Let me know if you have any questions.
