The ElectraGlide FatMan goes the extra mile in revealing the true sound of components, it is hand assembled by Owner Scott Hall. I read many people prefer it on their preamps while I preferred it on my twin 18" Velodyne FSR-18/BV Servo Subwoofers with their class-D amplifiers. They became much quicker as if they were 10" subs, while extending further infrasonic. The impact was epic, IMHO. Must sacrifice. Also, they sounded great when tried on my old 5-chanel Krell KAV-500 as well.
List Price was $2800 back in 2000. When silver was much cheaper !!!

One of the very interesting things about the FatMan is that it does not get broken in; rather it breaks in the component to which it is connected. I know it sounds bizarre but the best way to describe it is that after you plug it in to a component, it slowly changes that components sound over the course of a week or so.
The FatMan possesses one of the most intoxicating sonic signatures I have ever heard. Background becomes much blacker, lowering noise levels in the system even further.
... one of the biggest effects it has is on the soundstage. The soundstage becomes wider yet more defined and, most importantly for me, incredibly layered. All instruments live in their own 3-dimentional spaces.
This cord is KING of delicious, colorful, rich midrange. A completely different listening experience from any of my other cords... others cannot match that richness of tone and that ElectraGlide heavy-gauge all-silver ribbon/air dielectric sound.
I came into possession of the ElectraGlide FatMan cord. It helped my amp open up, drive the speakers more effortlessly and sound more detailed than using the other cords I tried. I've tried a lot of cords and I like Electra Glides the best. I wouldn't use anything else--at least not for my amp and preferably not on my digital either.
I really like the tasteful (lovely) degree of suavity, air, and ambience that ElectraGlides are rightly admired for.
