Upgraded from a Classic to an SE with teflon caps around 1 year ago, with certificate of authentication from CJ. New Mullard M8080 with a spare pair in boxes. Original box and manual. Like from a retail store, but for 60% off list. Like new condition. I am second owner, which is why I cannot give it more than 8/10. CONUSA only. Shipping on buyer from 19380. Paypal add 3%, or send MO. My feedback is perfect with many + and no negative on Agon and elsewhere. I've found that this CJ Classic SE Preamp is sublime to take the upper edge off upper mids and highs when using SS amplifiers, like from Ayre, Goldmund, Aragon, Odyssey, Nuforce and Wyred. This preamp works wonders on Class D amps. Yet, no sonic details are lost. As Stereophile summarized: "The sound was open, sweet, and slightly forgiving, with crisply articulated transients and surprisingly strong bass.the C-J offered greater body, bloom, tonal color, and dimensionality. “If you can live with the lack of features—as I can—and welcome simplicity, this is the line stage for you,” sums up ST. Superb dimensionality, dynamics, definition. ST raves: “the greatest preamp bargain CJ has ever made.” Sam’s reference (he bought it". And this summary was for the non-upgraded standard version, which was Class B recommended component, not the SE, which surely would be Class A. Others say: "The Conrad-Johnson Classic is just what its name implies. It is the type of component that company reputations are built upon. It is designed to do one thing and do it well: make music. If you are willing to forego a remote control, the C-J Classic will reward your efforts with full-bodied, texturally rich music and provide a lifetime of reliable service."
