Hard to believe I am selling this, one of kind HH Scott LC21 tube pre-amp, completely and thoroughly restored. Complete poly film power supply re-build.

CDE poly film power supply. F&T electrolytic phono PS. All the original filter cans have been left in place for original look, and the new poly film filters are under the chassis or behind the face plate.

Entire phono stage rebuilt with all metal film resistors and K40 signal caps.

Brand new custom built volume control with clockwise power switch built in.

K40 coupling caps through out line stage. Muse by-pass caps.

Nichicon muse caps in the DC and silicon bridge replacement of selenium rectifier.

All controls cleaned and de-oxed

Grid to ground resistors replaced with quiet metal film resistors. All original carbon resistors left in place if found within spec. Tube sockets cleaned and de-oxed

Input and out put jacks de-oxed and polished.

All signal tubes are good, though labels are worn off, look to be Telefunkin, but not sure. Rectifier tube appears to be HH Scott.

This nice pre- amp is mounted in a solid MDF case, laid out in real African Mahogany veneer. This is the proper way to build a case to allow for the heat and expansion with tube gear. Often times you see units like this in plywood or real wood cases that split and separate over time. This is because they are not engineered materials and they use fasteners.. This case has engineered base material without fasteners, you get the best of both worlds with the real veneer look.

I know what you are thinking you probably have not seen any brown faceplate HH Scott gear of any kind that was not worn off.. That's because this is the only one, that at least I have ever seen that is not worn and is protected with a clear coat. Let the images speak for themselves, the unit, though far from perfect is perhaps the finest LC21 ever offered for sale here. In very good condition, all silkscreen present. Some light scratching hear and there, not too noticeable and oxidation on the aluminum. No flaws are detectable until close inspection.

The sound is clear, accurate, and wide open with gobs of bass response. The background is very quiet. The sound stage is very wide, not too up front, not too laid back. I venture to say because of the extensive restoration and the beefed up power supply, few pre-amps can duplicate the transient response you'll get from this one of kind vintage piece..

This was my main pre-amp for the last 2 years and I rebuilt it under the guidance of Mike Samra, using his formulas and advice. Feel free to check with him or any other Audio asylum inmates as to the quality of my work and accuracy of my statements on the gear I sell. Willing to sell without case, for the right price, but other than that possibility, the price is firm..
