I’ve greatly enjoyed the privilege of owning this incredible piece for the last two years. I have physically downsized my system significantly however, and offer this rarely available Jeffrey Jackson preamplifier for sale. After spending forty years in this hobby, this is the finest preamplifier that I have owned, matched only perhaps by the Wyetech Opal, which I found to sound somewhat clinical in comparison. This preamp has a very full and organically correct tone, while playing against a dead quiet background. There are four line level inputs, and two outputs, which allowed me to bi-amp the woofer and tweeter drivers of a two-way pair of Audiokinesis speakers to great effect. In addition, there is an output marked "pass," which I assumed to bypass the volume control for amps equipped with such. I never tried it. The final output is marked tape loop. I don’t know the age of this preamp, nor any technical details. It does function flawlessly. The previous owner described it as output transformer based, and described it as the best value that he had found in his audio career. It uses an 80 recctifier, and a pair of 12B4A tubes. In addition to the tube set I have been using are two additional NOS pairs of 12B4A vintage tubes, an additional NOS 80 rectifier, and a used unobtainium 1930’s vintage UX-280. The unit will be carefully boxed for shipping. I’ll rate the condition as good, for the rather utilitarian look, but this unit always received admiring comments from visitors to my home, for its amazing retro appearance.
