Widely regarded as one of the best preamps ever made. The Solen cap upgrade as recommended by Wyetech, has been expertly performed by Soundsmith, per the past owner. The unit was inspected by the builder, Roger Hebert, seven months ago. The umbilical had a partial short, and was replaced with a new one. Aside from re-tensioning several tube sockets, everything was completely up to spec. The unit is pristine in appearance. You'd have to be looking very closely for a physical flaw of any type. As seen in the photos, there is one light scratch in the back. The build quality and workmanship are truly staggering. Pictures do not do the unit justice. The sound quality is very clean and detailed, with beautiful tone. This is one of the quietest pieces that I have had in my system, tube or otherwise. The Opal will be sold with four new issue Tungsol 6SN7 tubes, as recommended by Wyetech. This is a matched quad, with less than 20 hours of use. I do not have the original box, but do have excellent shipping materials. Nevertheless, it would be great to find a local buyer. Please plan to add 3% if using Paypal.
