This is a rare 1976 Advent Model 300 Receiver with the silver face plate. It was built in Cambridge, MA before assembly was moved to Mexico in 1979. The unit is in excellent working condition and good cosmetic condition. I bought it a couple of weeks ago from a reputable seller and it's a great little unit. I just need more inputs than the Advent has available (1 phono, 1 aux, tape in/tape out) and I've already upgraded, hence the sale. Here are the pertinent details...

Mechanics - The seller replaced two bad capacitors and cleaned all the switches and pots with Deoxit D5 and finished them off with Deoxit Gold. After receiving the unit, I put about 5-7 hours on it. All the switches and controls work smoothly, and all the functions work perfectly including the tuner, auxiliary, headphone and phono stage.

Cosmetics - Rated conservatively at 6/10. The case has been repainted and the finish is nearly flawless. The face plate is in good condition overall with some light oxidation and wear on the lettering. The only real cosmetic flaw is an area on each end of the face plate where another previous owner rubbed through the finish while attempting to clean it. These are shown in the photos.

Sound - The Advent Model 300 is best known for its superb phono section designed by the late Tom Holman.* I did a side-by-side comparison by running my Rega Fono Mini A2D into the auxiliary input, and the Advent's phono section is really first rate and absolutely dead quiet. The amplifier drove my Energy Connoisseur C5 towers without any trouble, and overall the receiver sounds great.

This unit still has a pre-delivery inspection sticker from 1976 attached to the bottom, and includes a color reprint of the Owner's Manual. It's been packed very securely and is available for shipping to the US and Canada with PayPal Instant Payment. I don't require an extra fee for PayPal.

Cheers and thanks for looking!
