The actual cables are in excellent condition, they have copper spades that are in fair shape, normal marks from use and tightening them down. The Sonoran gets depth and space right, and in the right system the dynamics are to die for. Highs are clean and clear with no artificial peaks to make your system sound hyper detailed, just pure natural sound. How do they do it? Well, they use micro bearing steel. Tiny steel balls around the quad shielded conductors to keep out any airborne EMI or RFI. This acts as an inert dense field to dissipate both airborne resonances and internal electromechanical resonances. From where I sit, I think we have two things going on that most cable manufacturers don't pay enough attention to. One is the electromagnetic field and capacitive field surrounding the conductor. A good dielectric helps but surrounding that with a dense inert type field like the micro bearing steel helps with whatever nasties we might have occurring in the wire itself. And two the elimination of RFI or EMI from getting into the system through a long antenna like wire like speaker cables. From what I have learned, RFI levels in your house can be very high, especially if you run Wireless for your computer. RFI can sound like a digital edge or glare being added to the music. Take it away and you realize that what you thought was more defined highs with maybe a bit of an edge are really RFI nasties making the highs appear that way. When they are gone you suddenly relax and enjoy the music instead of it keeping you a bit on edge about how good your system is except for that little edge. And if you think that is a benefit, you have to hear how natural female vocals sound. Pure and sweet with no artificial edge at all. You probably have never heard Sonoran wire and may have never heard of the brand. Do some research on the starsoundtechnologies websites.
