For your consideration I am offering for sale my B&W 801 Series 2 speakers. I wont spend time describing what these speakers sound like, there are plenty of reviews on line for you to read if you are not familiar with these.
They are a matching set with matching serial numbers 0525 on them. Yep I know, if you are someone who knows these speakers then you are probably scratching your head getting ready to do a google search on matching numbers B&W speakers because as far as you know they are always sequential numbers.
After buying them, realizing that they had matching numbers I called B&W and spoke with their regional manager who also told me that he had never heard of B&W numbering their speakers in pairs. He was also quick to point out that he had not been with the company at the time these were produced. After a few phone calls and sending some pictures to him which were forwarded to England he got back to me with some info.
Apparently these are the only matching numbers B&W 801 Series 2 speakers that they are aware of. The cause is simply a manufacturing error that occurred that was not noticed until now. It certainly makes them one of a kind. In actuality they are numbers 0525 and 0526 but the 6 was not properly stamped and looks like a 5. I had to take a picture and the magnify the number to see that it is actually supposed to be a 6. It certainly makes for a good conversation piece as if these speakers needed to be any more special.
While on the subject of the crossover area underneath the speaker. I have included a picture of each crossover for you to take a look at. I dabble in electronics but by no means am any kind of an expert in crossovers of any kind, much less B&W's. I can see though that they are not standard based off of pictures I was able to find on the web. The description of what was done seems to me what was done to the crossovers on this pair.
So back to the condition of these 801's. They are not flawless but they are very close. Speaker covers are all perfect with no holes, tears, or pulls anywhere. They are on castors. The cabinets are bright and not faded at all and have a nice shine. All in all they appear new. If you get up close to them and by that I mean 12 to 24 inches away, you can find a couple of scratches to the cabinets. They are not something you would ever notice unless you literally get on your hands and knees and look at them with the light angling just right to see them. I think these are an exceptional pair of 801's with the highly desired rosewood cabinet in near mint condition.
I do not have the original boxes but I am pretty handy and can build a shipping crate with Styrofoam inserts to protect them for shipping. I am also willing to hand deliver them within a radius of around 300 miles from the Atlanta GA area for $.50 per mile. I can take credit cards though square since I have an account with them but would rather not as I will have to charge you a processing fee of 4% in order to use the card. If you want to buy them and plan on paying with a card please take that into account. Payment can also be made through quickpay or surepay depending on who you bank with its free to use. Of course cash or cashiers check work just fine too.
Buyer is responsible for shipping costs unless they are having them hand delivered by myself and then it is for the rate of 50 cents per mile up to 300 miles around Atlanta GA. I am willing to make the shipping arrangements for the buyer if they like.
