This is one those transactions that one regrets after they happen. If it were not a case of me having too much in the house already, these speakers would stay. For sale is a pair of ELAC Uni-Fi FS5 speakers in the "Slim" version. The "Slim" version was a speaker built for the European audio community and it was brought over to the USA. It has the same internal dimensions as the non-slim model. Elac did this by making the cabinet slimmer, but deeper, as opposed to the other model which is wider and less deep. Too, the "Slim" model has a painted cabinet, which is a satin black finish. This finish is worth the extra money over the vinyl finish as the painted finish is so much more durable and "classy" looking as opposed to the brushed vinyl. These speakers are not fussy about placement but in all honesty, they need a quality amp to get the most out of them. I would recommend nothing less than 50 wpc of tube, but more like a 100wpc of tube or solid state makes the concentric driver sing. These speakers were designed/engineered by Sir Andrew Jones and the man is truly a speaker designing genius. Again, were it not for too many articles of audiophilia in my home these would stay. I have speakers here that are 2-3 times the price of the Elacs and the Elacs do not give up much to those which are retailing for $3000+. I would highly recommend reading the review of these speakers in the online article of "The Part Time Audiophile" from February, 2017 as well as "Home Theater Review" from July 25, 2016. There are several excellent reviews of these speakers. These speakers are approximately five months old.I am the original owner. They were never moved or handled without me wearing white cotton gloves. I have the original boxes for shipping as one can see in the photos. Shipping as noted in the ad is x 2. Local pick-up is always welcome and I am willing to drive these a fair distance to facilitate delivery. Otherwise shipping is to the lower 48 states only. Shipping will be via FedEx and costs will be based on actual shipping costs. No fee for PP. I think that covers it. Please email me with any questions you might have. Check my feedback at Audiogon with the same user name and buy with confidence.
