This is a pair of Horning Hybrid Aristotles "Zigma" edition using Lowther DX65 drivers (these drivers seem to cost nearly $3000/pr alone). They are perfect sonically and in what I would call "very good" condition physically except for a few minor items that have to drive the official rating down. One speaker has a very small scratch/blemish on the front about half way up. The other's grill is missing four of the six studs - if you wanted to use the grills you'd probably want to replace one. (Which should be easy as these are CURRENT model Horning speakers.) In addition there are some scratches on the BOTTOMs (which you'll never see) and I don't have spikes (standard spike studs - you could put anything you wanted in there). I have only been to a couple shows in the past years but I have listened to all the top rooms, especially the HE speaker/SET-type rooms, and have thought that Horning has had the best sound and by a very wide margin at that. I had wanted to try Horning speakers but the cost new is prohibitive. So, I bought this pair used, recently. However, Horning is probably serious when they say this speaker is for small-medium sized rooms. They cannot properly pressurize my very large space (room is 20x20 but with sloping 20' ceiling and large openings on two walls that effectively make it more like 40x40 - this is a very tall order for most speakers). So, I am offering them for sale. Again, these are a current model and they sell for $15,000 new. I have custom-made boxes but greatly favor local pickup. I'm 1.5 hour north of downtown Chicago. The boxes were designed for ground shipping but if I have to ship it has to be freight; I will not risk ground shipping as I've had too many mishaps on heavy items. Shipping would be at buyer's cost. PayPal accepted with buyer paying fee; prefer cash on pickup. Auditions are not possible - sorry. It's too difficult with two kids under two in the house and my very busy work schedule. The price reflects the less-than-perfect cosmetic condition and the desire for a quick sale (they are taking up a lot of space now and I won't risk moving them to the basement!).
