Excellent sounding small floor standing speakers in black ash finish. These JBL's were the last of the decent JBL speakers before they started major cost cutting and compromising on parts. These have the titanium tweeter which is a very nice upgrade at this price point. The finish is about 90% excellent with a few nicks, blemishes and one chip in the veneer on the top right side. Each of the speakers has suffered crunched bottom corners where the substrate is showing through. I know a good woodworker can straighten this out fairly easily - but I am not that woodworker! The fabric grills have some minor signs of wear, pulls, but nothing major. I have priced accordingly. The drivers and surrounds themselves are in excellent shape. I've listened to these with all types of music - but they seem to do best with rock. Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Ozzy, Rush all sound great. Jazz, not so much...I much prefer my Soliloquy speakers for jazz. Check out my video of the L3 at work here - https://youtu.be/8RBZMZUuo5s There are two pair currently for sale on Ebay - one set for $400, and one set for $250. The most recent sales have ranged from $150 to $250 to $350. From AudioHeritage: The L Series consisted of four models, the two-way L1, two-way L3, four-way L5, and four-way L7, with the L7 being the high end speaker. At the end of its model run, the L7 sold for $1000/ea., the L5 for $690/ea., the L3 for $470/ea., and the L1 for $320/ea. in mid 1990s dollars. So, adjusting for inflation the cost of the L3 in todays $$'s would be $890 each!! Local pickup is preferred. I will ship if the buyer pays for professional packaging and shipping to ensure safe delivery.
