The JBL Lancer 44 is a classic speaker built by JBL in the latter 1960's: Here's a link to the catalog from 1966: http://www.lansingheritage.org/images/jbl/catalogs/1966/page04.jpg

Given it was designed straddling the tube and transistor era, it works really well with tube amplifiers. I've used them with single ended 300B and KT88 amps as well as EL34 push pull amplifiers.

They have the famous JBL LE8T driver and related passive radiator. JBL put a lot of engineering into the driver and it has a 6.5 pound magnet structure. This engineering allowed them to develop the speaker for use without a crossover (a design often lauded by audiophiles).

The drivers all work perfectly. There's a small crinkle on the dust cap of one of the passive radiators, but otherwise they're in great condition. The cabinets were in very sad condition when I got them. I felt they deserved to be restored and sanded them down and re-stained them. I did the best I could, but I'm not going to be confused for a master woodworker. As they are now, they have a few flaws, but considering their age they're quite nice.

The front and back, black sections were freshly stained so they have a nice, crisp, factory fresh look. The rear speaker terminals have been upgraded/modernized to nice gold plated 5 way binding posts. The internal wire has been upgraded to some high quality stranded wire. I also have the grills which look nice, but the badges are long gone.

All the foam speaker surrounds were professionally replaced by Dyna-Tronics in Phoenix, AZ a couple years ago so they're in fantastic shape and will be for a long time.

I realize the drivers themselves are worth as much or more than my asking price. However, I would really prefer to sell these as complete speakers, since they would be a worthy addition to someone's vintage collection. The speakers are currently integrated into a system so you can hear them if so desired. The sound anchor stands are for demonstration purposes only, and are unfortunately not included.

These speakers are for local pickup only at this point. They're located about 30 minutes North of Phoenix, AZ. I could also meet in Glendale on MWF in the afternoon.
