My speakers are finished in a stunning upgraded high gloss maple finish which is a $1200 up charge over the standard finishes. The speakers are in MINT condition as I take excellent care of my gear. They were always housed in a dedicated audio room and lightly dusted with a microfiber cloth. They come from a non-smoking, pet free home. They have been gently driven with high quality electronics (Burmester solid state amp and Air Tight tube amp). These speakers are finished to the level of a fine piece of furniture and would look classy in any setting. I have the original spikes that come with the speakers and attach to the bases (not currently being used). These are a tremendous help in adjusting the rake angle (tilting the speakers) to optimize the sound for your listening position. Now for the sonics -- as you are probably aware that the Grand Veenas have garnered a ton of critical acclaim over the years. They have been reviewed by several publications and every reviewer has raved about their performance (there is ready access to multiple professional reviews on the web). These are first and foremost a speaker for music lovers. Even though they do all the usual audiophile tricks, it is their sheer musicality that grabs your attention. The highs are pristine, there is magic in the mids (excel on human voices) and the low end is well developed/detailed and packs a lot of impact (courtesy of the twin 8 inch woofers). They can fill up a medium to large sized room effortlessly. Also, they have the expensive Murata super tweeter that does add a nice sparkle to the highs (the present production of the Grand Veenas do not have the super tweeter as it is no longer in production).
A really nice feature is that these speakers have a high sensitivity which makes them easy to drive. They excel with both tube and solid state amplification. They are not partial to any specific genre of music -- sound equally great with rock, jazz, vocals or classical. I have priced them aggressively hoping for a quick sale. This is one of the cheapest price you will ever see for the Grand Veenas in mint condition. The upgraded gloss maple finish is like a free bonus!
At this price I cannot think of any other speaker that offers more performance. These speakers are currently doing duty in my main system. I can easily arrange an audition if you are interested.
I am (reluctantly) selling these as I am getting ready to put my house on the market. Since I am uncertain if I am going to have a proper room to enjoy these in my new house, I would much rather have a fellow audiophile have the joy of owning these speakers.
