I have a pair of rare, swiss made, Reference 3a L'integrale loudspeakers. These speakers have a superb time-coherent sound with superb imaging and soundstaging capabilities.Like all Ref 3a speakers, these have a main driver that is carbon fiber with no crossover. I have upgraded the speaker, replacing the normal Vifa tweeter with a SEAS excel tweeter that has nearly the same electrical characteristics. This gives the speaker even greater inner detail and soundstage resolution. If the buyer wants the original tweeters replaced I can also do so. The bass is quite powerful and deep with these speakers, far more than you would expect from an 8 1/2 inch driver in a small floorstanding enclosure. The speakers are a true 92db, 8 ohm load and are an ideal candidate for use with a powerful SET amplifier (15 watt minimum I would say). I had good success with parallel 300B, hybrid SET, and push/pull 300B amps. This speaker would be a perfect candidate though to upgrade to Ref 3as own Be tweeter. I have done this with my other Ref 3a pair (the even more rare Master Control MMC) and I can say that it would be another step forward on what is already a great speaker. Don't let the appearance fool you, I had to remove the acoustic foam grill in order to replace the tweeters. Otherwise, they are visually in good condition. Functionally, they are IMO better than new but can be made to be as new (replacing the tweeter back to the original) if desired. I do not have packaging for these speakers but it should be possible to pack them for a safe journey and I would be willing to do so at the buyer's expense. This speaker is one of the truly great speaker designs by a great speaker designer, Danial Dehay. I only sell them because I decided to stay with the smaller Master Control MMCs and I only have the room for one pair of speakers.
