FOR SALE: Vintage pair University model 6303 Diffaxial 3 way 15" speaker. Two 15" 3-way diffaxial speaker systems. Drivers only, no cabinets. Classic vintage tri-axials. These are high efficiency speakers and would be a great match for a single ended tube amp (see link for discussion). Including brilliance/presence control pots. These are rated at 30 watts and 8-16 ohms. Excellent sounding speakers, along the lines of the comparable Altec Lansing, Electro-Voice and Jensen of the same era. The cones are excellent with no rubs or tears, and the horn tweeters work fine.Here is a description: "The 6303 dates back to the 1950's and 60's, and was often found as an upgrade driver in classic old tube console radios from the time. Speaker has a steel frame with a gold magnet cover, machined screw down input terminals, original finish paint on the frame. The bass section of the driver has an impedence of 8 ohms, and the high frequency section has an impedence of 16 ohms. This speaker is a two way electronic driver, but it has a passive crossover fitted beneath the gold cover. As a result, the speaker is fed with a single full range input signal from the amplifier. The original labeling is present. The original factory supplied presence control and wiring." Rating at 7.5. Have some marks and nicks (see photos) but overall very nice for age. Brightness controls are both missing their plastic front knobs and only one has its metal front plate (see photo). Put these into some large cabinets and have a major bang-for-the-buck vintage 15" system. $75 to ship in U.S. will be well packaged. FREE pick-up in Chicago available. Thanks for looking.
