This is a pair of Altec 292-8A Alnico drivers with original Altec 23372 8 Ohm phenolic diaphragms. These have the same magnetic structure and use the same diaphragms as 290 series drivers, but were made for the live music industry. They are similar in size to 288 and 291 drivers. They fit large format horns, including 311 series, 1505, 1005, 1003, 805, 803 and 203B multicells. They also fit later Altec large-format horns including certain Mantaray versions. The throats are 1.4”, with a three-bolt pattern. Frequency response is 300Hz to 7kHz. They are 106.5 dB sensitivity, and can handle 120 Watts. This pair has been used in a touring concert sound system as the midrange component. One reads 5.3 Ohms, the other reads 5.4 Ohms. This is normal for 8 Ohm drivers. New terminals have been installed on both drivers. When I was using them, the terminals were removed and the connections were hardwired. The terminals I have installed are good quality. On one of the drivers, two of the six screws which mount the diaphragm are broken off. This is not a problem, as the remaining four screws are more than sufficient to secure the diaphragm. Also, one of the voice coils shows signs of having been overheated, but it works fine and still reads correctly. With that in mind, I am including a spare diaphragm that I kept for these. It is used and has one of the flex wires repaired, but works fine. I also have a pair of 311-60 horns for sale. Please see my other listings. I can be reached at (704) 779-1910 or via Asylum mail.
