My amplifier went out in this sub, so I am selling it for repair

I had the MOSFETS replaced for $225. Output capacitors are good Power transformer is good

Not sure why it is not functioning

Includes entire amplifier back plate and all electronics you see in picture and all buttons and knobs REL BRTITANIA B1

Cosmetic Condition = 7 of 10...

I don’t know exactly what needs to be repaired. There were NO symptoms so to speak, it just went quiet. The amp plate still powers on, just no audio output. A few things:

1.) I had it looked at here at Vintage Voltage Repair, and they weren’t familiar with REL stuff so it was not repaired.

2.) HOWEVER, I went ahead and had the 4 MOSFETs replaced anyway because I figured that would be a good idea no matter what. So you are getting an amp with 4 brand new MOSFETs about one month ago. $225 worth (still have the old ones too)

3.) The toroid is still good, the large output capacitors are still good, and like I mentioned brand new MOSFETs. So the positive is that all the big expensive parts are still good.

4.) A visual inspection shows no damage of any kind that we can tell. No bursting capacitors, no bad circuit traces, and no burnt out resistors. So overall, visually can’t see what is not working.

5.) The driver did not fry either. I am selling that separately for repair because it has a slightly scratchy voice coil. That could be fixed for $90-$110

6.) I did a TON of research trying to figure out what might be bad, and there is literally nothing out there on the internet for a REL Brittania going bad. The only thing I found was a youtube video from the UK where a guy fixed a stadium 3 or Stentor 3 by replacing ONE resistor. The amp design looked almost identical. So, overall, it could be something small and simple. My guess is that it could be on the input stage, but that is only a guess. It’s strange because the amp design is very very simple for something this expensive!

Hopefully that helps you out. I’ve thought about sending it out to Sumiko who now owns REL, but I hear that they don’t know jack… Basically they are a shell company that owns brand names and I am guessing there are no real ‘engineers’ there that would know how to repair something.
