This beautiful Teac X-2000R reel to reel deck. Excellent physical condition and flawless functioning condition. This is the last of the 'consumer' grade machines made by Teac. It is intended for light to medium duty home use such as making and playing back pre-recorded or user created mix tapes sourced from vinyl or CD. It is neither designed for nor suitable for use in a professional/industrial setting such as a studio. It can be used as a final mixdown deck, but probably not as a mastering one. It has six heads in quarter track configuration and has full bi-directional record and playback allowing almost indefinite uninterrupted play time, limited only by the length of tape and speed it's played at. Among its features are two operating speeds: 3 3/4 IPS (inches per second) or 7 1/2 ips. It comes with DBX noise reduction, EE tape capability (if you use that), and a manual adjustable bias to allow you to make the most use from almost any brand of tape. It also has some extra functions not common to older decks including a real time digital counter, memory stop, lap block repeat, and pre-set interval spacing. It uses quarter inch tape and can handle all reel sizes up to 10½ inches. It has an internal servo operated auto-torque control which automatically adjust the tension of the reels, thus allowing one to safely and easily mix different reel sizes and not have to manually set any switches. This particular specimen is in excellent condition in all respects. Please refer to the pictures and watch the video which I linked to in the header of this ad. All transport functions are sharp and responsive. Playback is crisp and clear. The heads show barely any use and have more than 75% of their life ahead of them. The pinch rollers are clean and supple and likewise have plenty of life left. The belt was changed out about two years ago. This deck has not seen very active or frequent use save for the occasional (about once every 3-4 months) tune up run to maintain operational proficiency. The transport mechanism is quick and peppy and not sluggish or indicative of hardened lubrication. The pots are clean and not static-y. Cosmetically, it is in very good condition. Not perfect as you can see; there are a few very light hairline scratches and blemishes here and there but overall this is a very clean looking and running deck that would make a very nice and welcome addition to almost any system. UPDATE AUG 18 2015: I am asking a steal at just $500 for the deck, which includes a copy of the user manual, the NAB hub adapters, an empty reel, and one roll of tape to get you started.
