Long considered the Best of the Best & the holy grail of the American made 12ax7's. I am not going to wax poetically here but those privy to the sound of the 50's vintage long black plate RCA's all agree it's about as good as it gets.
Most established tube dealers have sold out of them years ago and the ones that have any stock ask upwards of $350 -$500 for matched pairs. I can assure you none will have any matched pairs with tighter triode sections than mine.
These tubes were acquired from the inventory of Bell & Howell Canada [Dukane USA] when they closed up shop in the late 80's.
Note: Bell & Howell sold and serviced most of the major movie theaters in Canada back in the day when Altec A5's, A7's Vitavox,Western Electric,Klipsch, Fane and Goodmans were the speakers of choice behind the screens in the better cinemas and most were powered with vacuum tube amplifiers.
I worked there as a techie from 1973 - 1984. The tubes listed here are from my personal collection. These were culled and cherry picked for balanced triode sections from over a hundred examples by yours truly & tested on the company's Western Electric [Hickok] tester.
