Offered for sale at $400 are fifty (50) 12AU7A NOS American black-plate tubes, probably National Union made, but without brand labels. This works out to $8 per tube which is a very good price for these tubes.I bought them twelve months ago for use in my integrated VAC amp from a very good and knowledgeable tube dealer - Jim Cross in Florida. They are now available because I have discovered the ideal tube for my amp and no longer have need for so many 12AU7 tubes. I still love these black-plate 12au7s, but I have enough more blackplates (these and others) for use in my DAC and elsewhere so I cannot justify hanging on to these as well. From their construction Jim thought they were National Union 12AU7s (which he also sells) . They sound as good as other blackplate 12AU7s to me which I know - Raytheons, Tung Sols - perhaps a bit cleaner and crisper, very slightly more solid state-ish but still with all the full harmonics of NOS American blackplate 12AU7 tubes. These are superb tubes, so I know you won't be disappointed if your tastes run along these lines.
