Here is a nice quad of four, very strong RCA 6BQ5 tubes (that sub for your EL84 tubes). These all test very close and very strong; they actually test like new RCA 6BQ5 and 7189 tubes. Note that these tubes have identical construction to the RCA type 7189 tubes. These are the preferred "Pan Getter" type tubes, known as good sounding and rugged 6BQ5 tubes from the 1960s. On a trusty TV-7 tube tester, a 6BQ5/EL84 test result of 100 or higher indicates a "like new" 6BQ5, while 50 represents a 65% good tube. These RCA 6BQ5 tubes tested at 110, 110, 110 & 110; which definitely indicate a very strong testing quad of nice 6BQ5 tubes. These tubes also passed the gas and shorts tests. Testing these as 7189 tubes, requiring a more strenuous test, validated similar results ! Tested as 7189s, anything over 64 would indicate a "like new" tube. These tested at 68, 64, 64, 64; confirming the strength and ready to use, long life available from this matched quad, set of four RCA 6BQ5 tubes. Two of these tubes still have some of their red logos; two have their logos well wiped/worn off but were definitely also red logo RCA tubes. While the chrome tops are nice, note there are two tubes with a "hazy" look inside. This "haze" is quite normal for this type of RCA output tube; even when bought new. This is an excellent, very strong set of four rugged 6BQ5 tubes made by RCA in the 1960s. No tube boxes are included; but this matched quad of tubes will be very carefully packed to arrive safely.
