Here is a nice sounding, strong testing, matched quad of four genuine Telefunken ECC83/12AX7 tubes. These are the legendary smooth plate type, with the molded diamond and date codes on the bottoms. All have worn printed logos; but these test strong and are closely matched. On my trusty Hickok transconductance tube tester, a test result of 875 represents a 65% good tube and new tubes of this type typically yield 1300 or higher per triode. The first tube, dated <92 over 2>, tests at 1400 & 1500 and has a worn Dynaco logo. Next is a tube dated <91 over 2> which tests at 1400 & 1500 and only shows an HN printed stamp with no logo. The third tube has some Telefunken logo present and is the only tube in this set to have a seamed top; it is dated <72 over 2> and tests at 1500 and 1500. Finally, the fourth tube, dated <82 over 2> shows a bit of a Dyna logo and tests at 1400 and 1550. These tubes passed the Shorts and Gas tests plus show very strong "Life Test" results when filament voltage was lowered during testing; confirming these are only lightly used tubes. A brief listening test in my phono preamp verifies a very nice sounding, non-microphonic, matched quad of phono grade, genuine Telefunken tubes. This rare set of four Telefunken ECC83/12AX7 tubes will easily last many more decades.
