The Visseaux type 76 tube is the best sounding 76 tube I have found, and probably the rarest.
I bought a pair of Visseaux 76’s from an audiophile in Israel about 2000. He wanted $100 for a pair and said I could return them is I did not agree they were wonderful. I found them to be the best sounding 76 with my 76/6SN7 preamp driving a Korneff 45SE amp. I compared them with 9 other brands of 76’s and they were the clear winner to my ear (See my post in Audio Aylsum - https://db.audioasylum.com/mhtml/m.htmlforum=tubes&n=127111&highlight=visseaux+76&r=&search_url=%2Fcgi%2Fsearch.mpl%3Fforum%3Dtubes%26searchtext%3Dvisseaux%2B76 ).I wanted to find more, and after striking out in the US, I looked high and low around the world, getting a couple from Canada and a whole stash from Europe. I occasionally check online, but have never found any more. I no longer have a 76 preamp and have decided to sell the remaining Visseaux 76’s I have. I have retested each on my Hickok 539A tester and all were well above the new/nominal value of 1,415. I am selling them in match pairs for $100 a pair plus $10 Priority Mail shipping.

Visseaux was a French lighting company that started manufacturing vacuum tubes for radios in 1927 under the name Visseaux Radio. After WWII, they continued making tubes for radio and television. They began cooperation with Sylvania, and were acquired by ITT in 1970. The Visseaux 6L6 tube is one of the most sought after in that category.
