I bought this table August 2016 from a seller that refurbishes tables . I have bought very few components on eBay over the years and only bought this because I was satisfied with communication and the "style or attitude" of the seller. I bought this because my Technics 1600mkii suffered issues and was pretty much relegated to the fact that my Technics was done for. Then I found a seller on eBay (of all places again) that restored and repaired Technics and I thought I would take a chance esp considering the seller was in possession of a long out of production gear for my Technics. . The Technics is back in business so I am selling this Dual.. I doubt I have put 20 hours on the table since I bought it. Not much vinyl playing these days.

See my feedback at Audiogon under same user name as here for over 15 yrs of buying and selling my own equipment.

Following is how the seller/restorer of this table described it in his listing. I would agree as operation is as described. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Submitted for your consideration is fully restored Dual 1229 turntable in excellent condition. It is installed in a quite rare elegant German made plinth WEGA 3420 and it looks very good. The plinth has few minor nicks, see photos for the details. The acrylic plastic cover has no cracks in very good condition. The turntable operates flawlessly in manual and automatic modes as single play and multi-play unit. The turntable includes a SHURE M95GLM cartridge with a good stylus. Be sure to view all the pictures and it you have specific concerns, contact me. That being said, overall it is still an excellent quality unit and works as new.

This turntable has been completely restored:

The motor was disassembled and lubricated.

Muting switch contacts have been cleaned and re-calibrated for proper "spring and gap" clearances.

All lubrication points were cleaned and re-lubed to original factory specifications.

The tone arm guide and rubber sleeve washer of the Single-Multi switch have been replaced; the unit was cleaned and lubed.

Stroboscope neon lamp was replaced.

The tonearm lift mechanism was disassembled and filled with fresh damping high-viscosity oil.

Motor drive wheel and the contact surface of the platter have been re-dressed.

Pitch control has been re-calibrated to center.

Tonearm set-down point has been reset.

All electrical contacts were cleaned and de-oxidized.

All automatic functions were checked out and performed flawlessly including multi-play mode. All three spindles are included into the package.

I have serviced and sold more than 60 DUAL turntables, my feedback is excellent.

DUAL 1229 was one of the nicest quality of the '70s era Dual turntables. It has a full 12" platter that weighs 7 lbs. It is a fully automatic unit with speed settings for 33, 45, and 78 RPM, and can be set for 7", 10" and 12" record sizes. The long tonearm (effective length 222 mm) assures for very small errors of tracking angles. Tracking is flawless at pressures as low as a quarter of a gram. In single play, the tonearm parallels the record to provide perfect vertical tracking. In multi-play mode the mode selector lifts the entire tonearm to parallel the centre of the stack.

All operations are completely flexible and convenient - and foolproof.

The tonearm can be lowered to the record manually or via the viscous damped cue-control or by simply pressing the automatic switch.

Cosmetics are not the best of course as it is a vintage table after all. However blemishes do not affect the sound. Due to limit of pics here I was not able to upload all pics and the worst of the blemish would be the pic of the silver colored plinth pic. More pics can be seen at US Audio Mart Will be packed obsessively and removable parts will be padded accordingly. Buyer to pay actual shipping and I will cover the PayPal. Package size and weight will be determined after I determine box sizing and weight. Figure at least $65 depending on location. Rates have gone up quite a bit. I use Fedex regularly and was shocked at cost of shipping my Technics round trip.
